1 Pet 3:15 (NIV)
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to
give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
I believe that people deserve not just an answer, but also a reasonable answer. I for one am grateful for the abundance of
evidence for the Christian faith. Sure we accept things by faith, but it is not at all a blind faith. Don't be afraid to question, but at
the same time be open enough to let the evidence lead where it may. This includes being willing to accept the possibility of
being wrong in some areas. It is not wise to throw out evidence to satisfy a preconceived belief based only on a feeling or a
notion with no evidence to support the feeling.
This leads into the area that people refer to as Apologetics. I know that I when I was a new Christian I had no idea what that
word meant. Webster's dictionary defines apologetics as:
1. A systematic argumentative discourse in defense (as of a doctrine)
2. A branch of theology devoted to the defense of the divine origin and authority of Christianity.
Now I know I have found words in theology books that I had no idea what they meant.
I often wondered why they could not just speak in plain common language. My writing in the defense of Christianity is written so
that people like me can just read it without using a dictionary.
Topics that I have written on that would fall under Webster's dictionary definition would include:
Did Jesus Rise from the dead?
Is the Bible the word of God?
Daniel Part 1 and Daniel part 2
Who is Jesus Christ?
The Trinity
What does it mean to be saved?
Grace verses Works
The return of Jesus Christ
The Doctrine of Hell
Satan
Are the beliefs in the Church today the same as what was taught in the 1st Century?
Is it important what a Church teaches?
No I do not have the answer to all of life's questions. I do know enough that it is reasonable to accept the bible as the word of
God. There is plenty of evidence to support this claim. Therefore since I have established this to be fact in my own mind I look
to the bible for answers. It is my hope and a prayer that all who read this will also come to know the Bible is true and look to
God and his written word for answers.
