Mormonism
Written by Robert E. Kiser
There are many Good things that can be said about the L.D.S Church and its members. I do not have any ax to grind
concerning any of its people or all of the good things that they do. My one and only objection concerning the L.D.S Church is
that it is not true. I believe that Satan has used this organization to blind the minds of its members. The people themselves are
deceived and are mislead. As the Apostle Paul said
Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of
this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The people are the victims not the enemy! Always remember that! When sharing with an L.D.S member there are certainly
some issues I would consider more important than others. For example the doctrine of pre-existence is not nearly important as
the doctrine of salvation. Who cares if you convince them that pre-existence is un-biblical when they are still lost for trusting in a
false gospel or a false Christ?
The areas where I deal with these doctrines are not intended to be a complete exposition on the subject. They are only
intended to provide enough information to point out error in their false beliefs. For example showing that Jesus is not the spirit
brother of Lucifer is enough to show it is a false Christ or another Jesus. However it certainly does not show who Jesus really
is. What good is refuting a lie without also teaching what is true? To help a person understand the truth I would refer you to my
other writings that explain and defend Christian doctrine.
I do copyright my material to protect it from misuse. I have no objection of anybody copying my works for the purpose of
spreading the gospel. I strongly object to anybody else trying to sell my material or taking it way out of context to purposely
distort the truth! To people that want to use my material to witness to friends and family members I say; please feel free to copy
and freely give away this material to your hearts content. This entire section is a PDF book that can be downloaded in the Free

Mormonism
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is often referred to as the Mormon Church or is abbreviated L.D.S. I would be
among the first to readily admit that most of the Mormon people are good honest and sincere people. I was born and raised in
an active L.D.S family and I can certainly testify to the honesty and sincerity of most of the people. Unfortunately the Mormon
Church does not teach the truth found in the bible concerning God, Jesus or salvation. The Mormon Church is in fact opposed
to historic Christianity.
L.D.S view of Christianity
Joseph Smith History 1:18-19 (also called Joseph Smith 2) (PEARL OF GREAT PRICE)
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to
join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood
above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)--and
which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said
that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: "they draw near to me with
their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but
they deny the power thereof."
Discourses of Brigham Young, p.319 - p.320 (Mormon Prophet 1847-1877)
There are, doubtless, millions of just as honest people among the several religious denominations as are amongst the
professedly Latter-day Saints. But they have not the Gospel, they are in darkness with regard to the plan of salvation, and their
teachers are blind guides, totally unable to give the people the living word, the way of life. If they live up to the best light and
knowledge they have and can get, they are safe, and in a saved condition. What is the sin of the ministry and people of the
present Christian denominations? It is that light has come to them and they reject it. The condemnation of the Jewish
nation was that light had come into the world, but they chose darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil; so says
the Savior. The same Gospel that Jesus taught to those who rejected him is entrusted to us to preach to the whole world with
the same consequences which must reach them at some time, in some condition. 17:262.
1 Nephi 14:10 (Book of Mormon)
"And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the
other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great
church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth."
As you have just read the Mormon Church teaches that the various denominations that compose of historic Christianity are all
wrong, in sin, and of the devil. Furthermore Previous L.D.S authorities have given us the challenge to examine Mormonism in
light of the bible and show them where there is any error.
By Brigham Young " Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-Day Saints with it and see if it will stand the test" (
Journal of Discourses V16 P46, 1873)
By Brigham young " No man can disprove a truth...Why not rather every man rise up and say, Let God be true, let the truth
remain and let me know the truth. That is what I want-I will submit to it; and let every false theory and principle fall, to rise up no
more"
( Journal of Discourses V8, P132, 1860)
By Orson Pratt " If we cannot convince you by reason nor by the word of God, that your religion is wrong, we will not persecute
you...we ask you the same generosity...convince us of our errors of doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or
by the word of God and we will be forever grateful for the information"
(The Seer, pg.15)
Is it Important what a Church teaches according to the Bible?
Gal 1:8-9 (NAS)
8 But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you,
let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let
him be accursed.
(1) Do you think Paul would consider it important what a prophet or anyone else taught? (verse 8 & 9)
Deut 13:1-5 (NAS)
1 "If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom
you have not known) and let us serve them,'
3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find
out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 "You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him,
and cling to Him.
5 "But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD
your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in
which the LORD your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from among you.
(1) What if the prophet can do miracles but he tells us of other God's should we listen to him? (verse 1-3)
(2) Does God take the matter of this prophet lightly? (verse 5)
(3) If the teachings about God or Jesus are not the same Jesus or God as the Bible tells us about is this following
after other god's?
2 Cor 11:3-15 (NAS)
3 But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and
purity of devotion to Christ.
4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you
have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.
5 For I consider myself not in the least inferior to the most eminent apostles.
6 But even if I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not so in knowledge; in fact, in every way we have made this evident to you in all
things.
7 Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you without
charge?
8 I robbed other churches, taking wages from them to serve you;
9 and when I was present with you and was in need, I was not a burden to anyone; for when the brethren came from
Macedonia, they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so.
10 As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of Achaia.
11 Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!
12 But what I am doing, I will continue to do, that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded
just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting.
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness; whose end
shall be according to their deeds.
(1) Was Paul concerned about teachings of Jesus or the gospel ? verse 3&4
(2) Can these false teachers appear as honest and religious people? verse 13-15
(3) Why was Paul afraid for the Corinthians? verse 3
(4) Why would Satan or his servants want to appear as servants of righteousness?
2 Pet 2:1 (NAS)
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly
introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
(1) Does Peter think that false teachings are a serious matter?
John 8:23-25 And He was saying to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. "I
said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins." And
so they were saying to Him, "Who are You?" Jesus said to them, "What have I been saying to you from the beginning?
(1) Does Jesus sound like it might be important to believe correctly about him?
Prov 14:12(NAS)
12 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
(1) Is it wise to trust emotions or what may seem right? verse 12
After reading these verses have you reached a conclusion to whether or not it is important what a church teaches?
Why do you suppose Satan would want to introduce false prophets or false teachings about who God or Jesus is?
Do you believe that it important to know what the Bible says concerning who God or Jesus is?
If the teachings of a church about who God or Jesus is are different than that of the Bible should you attend and support that
church? If the teachings of the gospel by a church are different than that which we find in the New Testament should you attend
and support that church?
