7. PERFORMER OF MIRACLES
PROPHECY Isa 35:5-6 (see also Is.32:3-4)
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb will shout for joy.
FULFILLMENT Luke 7:20-22 (see also Lk.7:20-22, Mt.9:32-35; 11:4-6, Jn.5:5-9)
And when the men had come to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, 'Are You the Expected One, or do
we look for someone else?'" At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He
granted sight to many who were blind. And He answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen and
heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have
the gospel preached to them.
Josephus the Jewish Historian in that time period indicated that Jesus performed miracles in the quote I used earlier.
8. TEACHER OF PARABLES
PROPHECY Ps 78:2
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,
FULFILLMENT Matt 13:34
All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable,
9. HE WAS TO ENTER JERUSALEM ON A DONKEY
PROPHECY Zech 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just
and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
FULFILLMENT Luke 19:35-38
And they brought it to Jesus, and they threw their garments on the colt, and put Jesus on it. And as He was going, they were
spreading their garments in the road. And as He was now approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole
multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, saying,
"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
Jesus could have purposely tried to fulfill this by riding the donkey into town. Yet it is unlikely that he could have persuaded the
crowd to behave as they did. That they did on their own.
10. BETRAYED BY A FRIEND
PROPHECY Ps 41:9 (see also Ps.55:12-14)
" my close friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me"
FULFILLMENT John 13:21-26 (see also Mt.10:4 & 26:47-50)
When Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will
betray Me." The disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know of which one He was speaking. There was reclining
on Jesus' breast one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore gestured to him, and said to him, "Tell us who
it is of whom He is speaking." He, leaning back thus on Jesus' breast, said to Him, "Lord, who is it?" Jesus therefore
answered, "That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him." So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and
gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
It seems unlikely that someone would purposely try to fulfill something to deceive people into thinking they were something that
they were not. Especially knowing it would lead to their own death.
11. SOLD FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER, POTTERS FIELD PURCHASED
PROPHECY Zech 11:12-13
"If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind!" So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages.
Then the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them." So I took the thirty
shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD.
FULFILLMENT Matt 27:5-7
And he threw the pieces of silver into the sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself. And the chief priests
took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood." And they
counseled together and with the money bought the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers.
Notice the detail here there is an exact amount of coins mentioned, it was silver not gold. The money was thrown not placed.
This happened in the house of the Lord. The money was used to buy the Potters field.
12. HE WAS SILENT BEFORE ACCUSERS
PROPHECY Isa 53:7
He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep
that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth.
FULFILLMENT Matt 27:12-14
And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He made no answer.
Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?"
And He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge, so that the governor was quite amazed.
13. HANDS AND FEET PIERCED, LOTS CAST FOR GARMENTS
PROPHECY Ps 22:16-18
"a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare
at me; They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.
FULFILLMENT Luke 23:33-35 (see also Jn.19:23-24)
And when they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on
the left. But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up
His garments among themselves. And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He
saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One." (Jn.20:25 & Lk.24:39-40 shows they used
nails in which pierced his hands and feet during his crucifixion)
Crucifixion originated with the Phoenicians and Persians. It was practiced from the 6th century BC until the 4th century AD. The
Roman emperor Constantine banned crucifixion in 337 AD. The 22nd Psalm is attributed to David around BC 1000. It is said
that a persons bones become prominent during crucifixion. The pierced hands and feet came from being nailed to the cross.
This means the results of crucifixion and the type of death Jesus would die were described before crucifixion was invented!

14. FORSAKEN CRY
PROPHECY Ps 22:1
My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.
FULFILLMENT Matt 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying," Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? "that is," My God, My God, why
hast Thou forsaken Me?"
15. HEARTBROKEN, BONES NOT BROKEN, SIDE PIERCED
PROPHECY Ps 22:14, Ps 34:20 & Zech 12:10
Ps 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; it is melted within me.
Ps 34:20 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
Zech 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of
supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced;
FULFILLMENT John 19:32-34
"The soldiers therefore came, and broke the legs of the first man, and of the other man who was crucified with Him; but coming
to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs; but one of the soldiers pierced His side with a
spear, and immediately there came out blood and water."
From a medical perspective concerning the blood and water that came out this is evidence that Jesus was
indeed dead. (JAMA, Vol.255, No.11, 3-21-1986, pg.1455-14630 )
16. DARKNESS OVER THE LAND
PROPHECY Amos 8:9
"And it will come about in that day," declares the Lord GOD, "That I shall make the sun go down at noon and make the earth
dark in broad daylight.
FULFILLMENT Matt 27:44-45
And the robbers also who had been crucified with Him were casting the same insult at Him. Now from the sixth hour darkness
fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.
Because the Jews reckoned 12 hours from sunrise to sunset, it would make the 6th hour near noon and the 9th hour about 3
o'clock. Thallus a historian mentioned the darkness and the events surrounding the crucifixion around AD 52 His words are
recorded by Julius Africanus.
17. BURIED IN RICH MAN'S TOMB
PROPHECY Isa 53:9
His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was with a rich man in His death, because He had done no violence, nor was
there any deceit in His mouth.
FULFILLMENT Matt 27:57-60
And when it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of
Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given over to him. And Joseph
took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb,
18. BODILY RESURRECTION
PROPHECY Ps 16:10 (see also Ps.41:9-10)
For Thou wilt not abandon my soul to Sheol; neither wilt Thou allow Thy Holy One to undergo decay.
FULFILLMENT Acts 2:31 & John 2:19-22 (see also Acts 13:34, Lk.24:46)
Acts 2:31 he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His
flesh suffer decay.
John 2:19-22 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." The Jews therefore
said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" But He was speaking of the temple of
His body. When therefore He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the
Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken.
Some people try to say that Jesus only rose from the grave spiritually not physically this is one of the proofs that this
assumption is false. His body did not rot because he physically rose from the dead. He said he would raise his body and he
did.
A group of college students decided to try and figure the mathematical odds of Jesus fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies.
They took this figure and made a word picture we can all understand. Lets say you took the entire state of Texas and buried it 2
feet deep in silver dollars. Next you put an X on one of them. Then mix them all up with a bunch of bulldozers. Now you send out
a man blindfolded and allow him to pick up one coin. The students determined that the blindfolded man picking up the coin with
the X on it, would have the same odds as Jesus fulfilling the prophecies by chance. You would certainly stand a better chance
of winning the lottery a few times. Than you would to bet that Jesus was not the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. Other
people have made amazing predictions but they have also been wrong. The Bible on the other hand has more predictions then
any single person and it has never been wrong. Jesus declared that these scriptures testified of him
Jn.5:39. The prophecies concerning Jesus before his birth help in verifying this point.
